MINUTES OF GROUP EXECUTIVE
HELD ON THURSDAY 4th SEPTEMBER 2008

2. Minutes of last meeting. Adopted
3. Matters Arising- None
4. Treasures Report- Accounts are in a healthy position with £5000 in the main account and £2800 plus interest in the reserve account. Matt Brickell has agreed to taken on the job of applying for the Gift Aid refund. A cheque for £850 will be sent as a donation to the church with a letter stating that £50 is towards the increased heating of the halls.
5. Subscriptions- The registration evenings will commence on Friday 19th September for Scouts, 22nd September for the Beavers and the 25th September for the Cubs. Letters to all the parents of the boys will be sent out prior to the evenings with extra copies available on the web site. Volunteers were asked for the various evenings.

A programme has been set out for the reporting back of payments and a second letter with be sent out.
On each evening a master copy will be marked off to help with the final reconciliation of the forms.
Parents have been asked to write their sons name on the back of cheques.
6. Scout post- The collection will be 1day less. The subject of publicity was discussed and a suggested letter drop was proposed, this will be fully discussed at the next meeting. Mr Gruber has offered to create a large publicity banner.
7. AGM- There has been some good feed back about the evening and Mrs Burrows had liked the idea of the parents seeing and hearing what happens on the unit nights.
8. Section reports-
GSL No Report
SL- A success camp at Borthwick Castle in May.
Scout camp at Bridge of Ken had been wet but had not stopped any activities which included cycling, climbing, laser quest and a visit to an Activity Centre.
The troop had been joined by a patrol from Macclesfield and 2 Scouts from America.
District Flag will be held in September, the Keilder Regatta is the beginning of October.
Fit for Life and Conservation badges will be done, along with outings to the Gang Show and Ratho Climbing Centre.
Castlelaw .6 boys had attended the Borthwick camp. The pack had successful visits to Tynecastle and Longcraig Sailing Centre. The pack has arranged visits to the Gang Show and the Panto. Pack holiday will be held at the beginning of October at Bonaly Scout centre
Scaldlaw- 6 Boys had attended the Borthwick weekend with mixed success. A visit to Longcraig had been good. The Hike Badge had been completed and an evenings orienteering had been a great success.
Beaver Colonies The programme had not yet been planned. An outing to the Gang show has been arranged along with a fund-raising event at Christmas.
The issue of new leaders was raised and recruitment is to be discussed at the next meeting.
9. AOB A thank you for a wedding gift had been received from Simon
Dates for the next year's meetings were set:-
Thursday 5th February, Thursday 23rd April, Thursday 18th June for the AGM, Thursday 3rd September and Thursday 12the November.
